Here are some recent trends we are seeing for the men in bridal party:
Mixing up the color schemes
If this is a formal affair and is in need of some Hollywood glamour, then by all means, dress it up; however if your wedding is more casual and fun and modern – skip the tux and opt for a blazer and a bright tie or pocket square, or socks! Casual can be cool if done correctly. With matching khakis and bright colors, the groom and groomsmen can look formal while maintaining “guy chic.” This year, especially for spring and summer – light and dark colors mixed are a big hit. Light colored suits like sand and seer sucker paired with darker colors like navy, black, dark green are big. For all things preppy and formal online, try JCrew, Banana Republic or Vineyard Vines. Locally, Weekends, Nordstrom or The Regiment Shops of Colorado in Boulder.
Try the tie!
While the bowtie and cummerbund has been “in,” in recent years, the tie is in these days. While the super-modern skinny tie may not be your man’s idea of fashion, ties are classic and look terrific and often less 1950 than your cummerbund combo. This year, you could find lots of darker suits paired with light or even super bright colors, i.e. navy jackets and hot orange skinny ties.
Go past the bridal party
Keep the dad’s and granddad’s involved and part of the celebration by coordinating their outfits with the groomsmen. Nothing is cuter than your grandfather in a navy jacket and bright orange tie.
Customize the Groomsmen
As you might have somewhat different outfits for your bridesmaids and it helps set them apart – why not do the same for the groomsmen? Get them each different colored ties/pocket squares or individual cufflinks!
Shake up the Boutonnieres
This goes for the bridesmaids as well, but you can absolutely vary the boutonnieres per groomsman according to their different ties (see above) or pocket squares! Think bright orange freesia for a bright orange tie, while a yellow ranunculus might go perfectly with a bright yellow tie.
