Yair and Julia's Engagment Shoot from J. Nelson Photography

Calluna Events is very excited to be working with the super talented Nate and Jenny from J Nelson Photo. They are going to be shooting Julia and Yair's wedding on September 5, 2010. Julia and Yair met while living in DC and pursuing law careers, so they decided to return there for their engagement shoot. The day started with the breathtaking Cherry Blossom Festival, and continued with a tour of DC and the couple's favorite spots in the city.

Check out more of their engagement shoot with JNelson Photography here, and be sure to check back to see and read about their Calluna Events wedding later this year!

Recherche Introduces "The Organized Photographer"

We just received this information from Regina Mountjoy at Recherche Photography. Enjoy!

Recherche Photography is thrilled to announce our new affiliate business:

During ten years of running my own creative photography business, I have endeavored to combine my artistic nature, my commitment to customer service and my passions for organization into a streamlined business. Let me tell you, it did NOT come easily!

I have heard the cries of frustration from my fellow photographers and entrepreneurs who feel overwhelmed, scattered and buried. This has spurred me to bring something useful to others out of my own decade of trial and errors, failures and success.

Desiring to share with you the culmination of a decade of experience and creative problem solving, I have created The Organized Photographer (TOP). TOP offers photographers a wealth of tools, direction and support in organizing their own creative business.

Organization and creativity for me go hand in hand. A lot of people associate the words "simplifying, organization and streamlining" with "boring, tedious, impossible for an artist." Not in my world! My mission is to create luscious beauty and calming order in every aspect of my life I'm excited to help you do the same!

NUTSHELL:

What is TOP about? TOP's purpose is to help photographers create order and enhance productivity in their business so they have time for what they truly value.

How will TOP do this? By offering group classes, intensive workshops, one-on-one coaching and soon there will be downloadable forms + checklists.

What does this mean to you? If you would like a little more structure, space and sanity in running your photography business start by signing up for the TOP newsletter, following TOP on Twitter, become a FB fan or just visit the new website to read more about the venture.

What if you are not a photographer? TOP will be offering mini classes on de-cluttering and working more efficiently which will be applicable to all. I also offer one-on-one mentoring to help tackle clutter that is burying you. So sign up for the TOP newsletter on the left-hand side of the TOP website.

Need some de-cluttering help stat? Come to TOP's “Mini Clear the Clutter” workshop on Tuesday, June 1st at Recherche's home-studio in Louisville! Wine, snacks, tons of tips and ideas and only $35! To reserve your spot sign up here.

Will Recherche still be photographing? Of course! Otherwise the new business would just be The Organized Girl.

Please be so very kind as to forward this email to any photographers in your circle.
I would be most grateful if you would help spread the word and connect TOP with people who would value our service.

Vendor Spotlight -- Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch

We talked to the Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch about their new business and weddings!

1. Name of business: Spruce Mountain Guest Ranch

2. Years in business: 6 months - Grand Opening, October 1, 2009

3. Location: Larkspur, CO

4. Most memorable wedding... My own wedding. When I got married Spruce Mountain was not an official wedding venue. It was a 400 acre piece of land that my parents in retirement bought to build a recreational playground for their children and Grandchildren to enjoy. The memories of my parents dreaming and building their new home was so special and so much fun. They took the land as their canvas and created the most beautiful estate. When my husband proposed I knew immediately that I wanted to be married at Spruce Mountain. I could not think of a more meaningful venue. My husband and I eloped. We were married in front of the fireplace in Ruby’s Cottage (the original barn built in the late 1800s that my parents renovated into a guest home. We named it Ruby’s Cottage after my Grandmother.) The only people at my wedding were my pastor, photographer, videographer, and my 2 sons who were 4 and 6 years old. We were all crying. It was the most special, most romantic wedding I had ever been to. It was an 80 degree October day. The trees were changing colors. Bright reds and oranges. We couldn’t stop taking pictures, laughing, and holding one another. By far my favorite wedding at Spruce Mountain.

5. I love it when a Bride and Groom are...both involved in the planning of their wedding. They are working together to create a day that is representative of each other, and respectful of what each other wants.

6. Favorite part of a wedding...When the groom sees his bride for the first time as she is walking down the aisle.

7. Our favorite kind of bride is...one who makes herself at home at Spruce Mountain. We tell all of our clients that when they walk through our gates they become a part of our family. We love watching our guests enjoy the property and take advantage of all the amenities that are available to them.

8. What sets us apart from other venues is... We a more than just a room. We are a private, 400 acre mountain estate tucked just outside of the city. We are only a 20 minute drive South of the Denver Tech Center. Our guests can enjoy a mountain wedding without having to travel to the mountains. We only have one event per day. We believe it is important for our brides to have flexibility when planning their wedding. We are open to outside vendors, and have indoor and outdoor spaces accommodating 40-400 guests. Our amenities far exceed other venues.

9. Trends we are seeing for 2010... With this being our first year in business I do not have the background knowledge to recognize new trends, however I do find it interesting that I have yet to see a “traditional” wedding. I love how brides are stepping out of the box and creating weddings that fit their individual styles. 10. One tip for finding a venue on a budget is... Cut back on the number of guests you invite. Choose an off season date or day. If you chose a venue such as Spruce Mountain you will save money on décor as Spruce Mountain is already so naturally beautiful . Also, look for a venue such as Spruce Mountain that allows you to bring in your own alcohol. Click here to find more about Spruce Mountain!
